Allschwil - once a farming village in the Sundgau and today a suburban community - is a popular residential area. What people love about Allschwil is the proximity to the cultural city of Basel and the amenities of this urban centre, but also the countryside with its recreational opportunities. The historical village centre with its well-preserved timber-framed houses recalls the fact that it was once a farming village. The narrow streets and numerous quiet corners give a touch of its affinity to the nearby Alsace. With its apartments, shops, services and businesses as well with cafés and restaurants, the village centre is always bustling with life.
Another attractive location is Lindenplatz. This park with its old trees is an open invitation to linger. Numerous shops and restaurants surround the square. As the centerpiece of a spacious residential area, Lindenplatz is the second shopping centre and meeting point of Allschwil.
Gardens, parks and playgrounds expand the residential area with space and convey a sense of being in the countryside, although Allschwil borders the city boundary of Basel.
A special highlight is our Bachgraben promenade, the only "pedestrian connection" to the nearby city.
A well-known and popular area is the forest called "Allschwiler Wald", which attracts many people who are looking for relaxation and recreation.
